Johnson signed with the Bucs shortly before spring training. He's always had very high K rates, but got hit hard as a starter. He was much more effective as a reliever until 2004, then rebounded for Altoona in 2005. His season was interrupted several times by short stints on the DL for minor injuries. He became a free agent after the season, but re-signed for 2006. He'll no doubt head back to Altoona. The Pirates are short on LHPs in the low minors, so there's probably going to be a need for LH relievers in AA for several years at least.
