Knight got himself on the prospect map briefly with a strong 1997 season.  Otherwise he seldom pitched very well apart from mostly good K rates, until a strong 2001 season in AAA.  That got him a whopping 19.1 IP in the majors over two years, which is about as much opportunity as a younger player ever gets with the Yankees.  The Yankees sold his contract to Japan in 2003 and he hasn't pitched in the States since.  He's signed with the Pirates now and will give it another try.  It's hard to guess where they'll assign him.  He pitched only briefly, and very poorly, in Japan in 2005, so it won't necessarily be AAA.
