Krebs was a 2004 Royals draft-and-follow, taken in the 36th round, but he didn't
sign. He throws 93-94, with a mid-80s cutter or slider. The Pirates signed him
in mid-July. He was a reliever in JC, but they put him in the rotation, possibly
to get him more work. He had one of the better arms at Williamsport, but struggled
after debuting there, allowing a lot of hits and walking more than he fanned. As
a JC guy, however, he would have been less experienced than many players in the
NY-Penn League, and he was pitching after a layoff, so his struggles aren't
necessarily alarming. He could be at Williamsport or Hickory in 2006, probably
depending on how he does in fall instructional league.
