Sanchez originally signed with the Dodgers, but they released him after two years.  After he signed with the Pirates, his velocity increased dramatically to the mid-90s.  In 2005, he ended up having a very interesting odyssey, getting called up to Altoona to fill in for a couple of starts when the Curve were shorthanded.  Amazingly, considering his experience level, he pitched well. Afterward, he was sent to Hickory and pitched very well for a while, but the hitters eventually caught up with him.  He's had low K rates despite the velocity, so he may need work on his secondary pitches.  His assignments in 2005 were very unusual for such an inexperienced pitcher, but the Pirates consider him a prospect.  He'll probably open 2006 in the Hickory rotation.
