Whiteside shot to the majors and did well in his first partial season, but never pitched well after that despite numerous chances. He's hung on strictly in the minors since 2001, except for a couple forgettable outings for the Blue Jays in 2005. He's done well the last two years as a AAA closer, although he missed time in 2005 due to a 15-game steroids suspension. At age 38, it's tough to see him reaching the majors again. He'll probably replace Mark Corey as the Indianapolis closer.
