Baca played one year at Northeastern Junior College and then three at UNLV.  His numbers at UNLV weren’t impressive, but the Rebels typically had a staff ERA well over 6.00 (in 2008 it was over 7.00), so they probably played in a hitters’ environment.  Baca seems to have done best when he pitched strictly in relief.  He signed quickly after the draft and reported to State College.  He served as the Spikes' primary closer and put up just fair numbers.  He struggled with LH batters, who hit .333 against him in a small sample size.  He’ll probably be an organizational player.
