Erickson gradually improved during his time at Washington.  According to Baseball America, which ranked him 18th among Washington prospects, he throws strikes with three fringy pitches.  As is often the case with college seniors, Erickson signed quickly after the draft.  He pitched well as part of State College's "rotation" of pitchers who alternated between starting and long relief, generally pitching about four innings at a time either way.  Erickson should open 2010 at West Virginia, where he may be in the bullpen due to the pitching depth the Pirates have accumulated in the low minors.
