Fagan, who may go by A.J., pitched at Manhattanville
College, an NCAA Division III school in New York state, in 2007. He
transferred there from Rockland CC. I read
a partial reference on the web to him giving up his senior year of eligibility to try to start a pro career with the Cubs. It must have been only a tryout, because he was not drafted in 2007 and if he'd signed a pro contract, I don't think he'd have been eligible for the 2008 draft. He signed just before State College started its season and was assigned there, but never pitched for the Spikes and instead headed to the GCL. He pitched well there, with a low K rate. He'll probably go to State College next year.
