Igsema spent five years in the organization as an outfielder.  He showed some power in 2004, which made him unique among the Pirates' Latin American prospects.  He showed good power at times, but never really got going as a prospect and also got hurt in 2007.  He was considered to have classic rightfielder tools, including power potential and, according to Baseball America, a very strong arm.  The Pirates evidently decided they could get better use out of that arm by moving him to the mound.  He was one of two low-level outfielders the Pirates moved to the mound, the other being Wanell Macia.  I saw Igsema in a bullpen session at Pirate City in March 2008 and he does throw hard, although I didn't see any gun readings.  He got a brief tuneup in the GCL after its season opened and then moved to the Hickory bullpen.  I would have expected him to have control problems, but he didn't.  He also didn't allow too many baserunners, but he had some gopher ball problems.  Considering his experience level, it wasn't a bad showing.  He may get a full-time shot at West Virginia in 2009.
