The Pirates obtained Pribanic and two other RHPs-Brett Lorin and Nathan Adcock-along with C/1B Jeff Clement and SS Ronny Cedeno for SS Jack Wilson and RHP Ian Snell. Pribanic went to Hutchinson (KA) CC for two years before going to Nebraska. Baseball America rated him Seattle's 27th best prospect going into 2009. He throws 91-94, with a slider, curve and splitter, but his breaking pitches need work. The splitter is his out pitch. He was having a good season in low A at the time of the trade, with a low walk rate and only the one HR allowed, but his K rate was very low. He's a little inexperienced, as he redshirted in his first year at Hutchinson. At West Virginia after the trade, he continued to pitch well, still with a very low K rate. Oddly, he allowed five HRs. He's an extreme groundball pitcher, with a groundout to air out ratio of 2.69 for the entire season. Given his limited experience, the Pirates are probably hoping he'll improve his offspeed stuff enough to start missing more bats. He should be in the Bradenton rotation next year.
