The Pirates signed Sullivan as part of their newfound interest in the Pacific Rim.  He played for Australia in the World Junior Championships.  He signed a contract for 2010 and will probably report either to the GCL or to MLB's academy in Australia, depending on how advanced the Pirates consider him.  He was already at the academy at the time of the signing.  He'd thrown 20 innings with 6 walks, 21 Ks and an ERA of 1.35.
