The Pirates originally drafted Picart out of a Puerto Rico HS, then signed him after he'd played a year at Miami Dade JC. At Bradenton, he shared middle IF time with Alexander Peralta, Dan Schwartzbauer, and David Munoz, playing more at 2B than SS and getting the least time of the four. He held his own with the bat, except that he showed no power. In 2005, he showed significant improvement, especially in the power department. By the end of the season he was the primary SS. He moved up to Williamsport in 2006, but didn't hit, and showed awful plate discipline. He was used at 2B, 3B and SS. He ended up at Lynchburg in 2007, playing semi-regularly due to injuries to Shelby Ford, Angel Gonzalez, and Cameron Blair, and Dan Schwartzbauer's retirement. He played both middle infield positions and a little OF; he's adequate defensively. Picart didn't hit particularly well beyond showing decent power, but considering his experience level he didn't do badly. He'll probably be a UT player somewhere in class A in 2008.
