Silva didn't do much with the bat in his first two VSL seasons beyond take some walks. He was in camp in March 2006, but didn't make the GCL roster. Back in the VSL things didn't improve. In fact, he was easily the worst hitter with the VSL affiliate. He nevertheless made the GCL roster in 2007 and held his own pretty well in limited playing time, although one walk and 14 Ks isn't good. He returned to the GCL in 2008 as the backup at 1B and hit well, with much improved strike zone judgment and power. He could be at State College in 2009.
