Dyeing the Fabric
After the bundle(s) are all scrunched, paint them with soda ash solution, then a very strong fiber reactive dye solution. Here I used Better Black and Fuchsia mixed into a plum color, and straight black. The whole bundle is now really dark, and you are sure the whole thing is ruined. Wrap it in a big plastic sheet, prop it up on two stools so it's not sitting in a puddle, and wait and worry about it for two days.
