GENERAL:

8/15/96  Subject:  Unitary Controller Default setpoints.

For any of the unitary controllers (ETM, VAV, UVC, TBC, or ETC) if you want to know what the default setpoints are (occur upon power-up before it communicates with an EP or EC), create one of the modules in PC/ESS and view the setpoints before you change anything.  The default values in PC/ESS match the defaults that are built into the module.

8/15/96   Subject - Triac output will not energize a relay.

When a triac output energizes, but the load it is controlling does not pull in, the problem may be that the device does not draw enough power to energize the triac.  To correct this problem, you can install a 1.5K ohm, 1/2 watt resistor across the load (like across the relay coil).  This will cause it to draw about 16 milliamps extra.  NOTE:  This only applies to the 24Vac control side of a load.  DO NOT apply the resistor to a line voltage load.

8/15/96   Subject - Lightning Arrestors for Vulnerable Com. Lines.

For installations where communication wires are run between buildings (underground or overhead), lightning arrestors may be needed for additional protection from lightning induced surges. Lightning arrestors should be rated for a standard 5 VDC differential, digital signal, 1800-9600 Baud RS-232/ RS-485.
