ABOUT THE SILVER WOLF RANCH
Silver Wolf Ranch is one of the largest and finest private ranches in
northern Michigan. Its 1,640 acres of prime outdoor recreational land is
nestled in the Flynn Valley of Alcona County, about two hours north of Saginaw.
The Andirondack-style
Main Lodge and surrounding cabins rest on
the shores of 160-acre Lake George. A rustic enclave, Trails
End Camp, is found a mile upstream on the banks of the Little Wolf Creek.
The land’s geography
is diverse, stretching from the oak ridge in the south to the cedar swamps
of the north. White and red pines
are
numerous, and aspen, birch, tamarack and spruce, along with an
abundance of water, naturally attract large populations of various
types of wildlife.
Nearly every kind
of wildlife native to Michigan is found on the property including white-tail
deer, bear, wildcat, coyote, otter,
fox, squirrel, and beaver. A wide variety of birds including bald eagles,
trumpeter swans, wild turkey, grouse, woodcock, waterfowl, and great
blue herons abound.
Lake George is
a private lake, teeming with large mouth bass, perch, blue-gill, pike,
and trout. The lake is fed by two streams; the Silver Creek
ends at the lake, while the Little Wolf Creek continues north to
the Thunder Bay River. A third creek, the Spruce, meanders along
the east side of the property. The fishing is excellent and the
boathouse is fully equipped with rowboats, canoes, sailboats, a
kayak and paddleboat.
Over 25 miles
of two-track trails make every corner of the property accessible for hunting
and sightseeing. A rifle and
archery range complete with shooting benches is available for
target practice, skeet shooting, or competition. There are some
20 rye fields on the property and 26 permanent shooting blinds,
which provide for excellent hunts in the fall.
The Silver
Wolf Ranch is
a unique experience, a wonderful place to enjoy family and friends ...
