Today we did some exploring on our own. We took the Metro down to Tsentralnaya Ploshad and walked over the the Bolshoi Theater and then past the Duma and down to the National Hotel at the end of Tverskaya Ulitsa. The hotel overlooks one of the entrances to Red Square and the  Museum of Russian History and one the entrances to Red Square. The we took the Metro to Mayakovskaya and walked down the Garden Ring to a small park we found that had a nice fountain and of all things, a good old stainless steel diner.
