Peas and Pearl Onions
My Thanksgiving meal isn't complete without this side dish. A medium white sauce coats these simple vegetables. Maybe even your kids will try them!
- A bag of frozen petite peas
- A bag of frozen pearl onions
Prepare the vegetables according to package directions and keep hot.
Medium White Sauce:
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 1 Cup milk
Melt butter over low heat in a heavy saucepan. Blend in flour and seasonings. Cook over low heat, stirring until mixture is smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat. Stir in milk. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute.
Fold into hot, cooked vegetables and serve.
