Sarah Kitty

We have a cat named Sarah Kitty. I purchased her from a pet shop in Tulsa when she was 7 weeks old, and now she is 18 years old! Sarah is a tortise-shell domestic shorthair. She has golden eyes and she is very talkative. However, she never has taken to our kids or to any strangers for that matter! She always hides from company. Most of our friends don't even know that we have a cat!

I wish I could tell you some funny things that she does, but as she is so old, she just sleeps, eats and poops! Sarah has a sixth sense about when the kids are in bed, because it's just then that she'll come upstairs to look for attention. Otherwise, unless her dish is empty, you don't see her.

The lizard

Number One won a lizard at the Labor Day carnival. He was really trying to win a turtle, but we could only get one ball in the little fish bowls. My son named him Charlie, and I think he was a green anole lizard. We set up a terrarium for him and bought him crickets (never in my life did I imagine ever needing to buy bugs in my life!). Charlie lasted two days with us, and poor Number One cried at his passing.

But between Charlie this year and the goldfish Number Two "won" last year, we have come to the conclusion that we should NEVER bring pets home from carnivals! I hope we have learned our lesson.

What's next

The boys are hoping to get fish again. At least they are pretty easy to care for. My husband still is wanting a dog, but that discussion has been dropped for now.
