Rockefeller Center

After cutting through Times Square we headed back to Brooklyn.  We saw a lot of neat things on the way.  One really cool thing that happened was getting to see some folks shooting a movie on a side street.  Nat jumped out of the car (at a traffic light!) and collected a handful of "fake snow" for a souvenir!  When we passed Rockefeller Center we stopped for a few minutes to watch the ice skaters.  Nat decided he wanted a picture of the "golden guy", to show his friend.  (So here it is, Aaron!)

Rockefeller Center is named after the multi-millionaire, John D. Rockefeller, who leased the space from Columbia University in 1928.   The entire Center consists of 19 commercial buildings, which cover 11 acres in midtown Manhattan from 49th to 52nd Streets, Fifth to Seventh Avenues.  30 Rockefeller Plaza was the first and is the tallest (70 stories) of the buildings built here.  It now houses NBC studios, and yes, it was Saturday, but we were too tired to go see them tape Saturday Night Live!
