ACT I Inciting Incident We start by making some wearable art. We make masks, finger puppets, head pieces--you name it!--and we have suitcases full of glitter and glue to keep everyone inspired and involved. We think it's a great way get everyone started as they arrive at different times.
All we need is a table large enough for the guests to stand around. When we've finished with the crafts, (usually 30-40 minutes) Mr. J's assistant clears off the table leaving plenty of time for you to set up for cake and refreshments.
ACT II Rising Action Do you like to play drama games? We think they're cool! When we play there's no sitting out, no being a loser. We think more imaginations are better imaginations, so we keep everyone involved in group storytelling and silly tableaus.*
Mr. J knows what games bring out your best. He'll keep your party moving, and that's a promise. You've got to be fast if you're doing 2 plays in half an hour.
ACT III Climax That's right, 2 plays in half an hour! First, an original, like "Willy and the Stinky Sox," or "The Dragon & The Monster," stories Mr. J tells that everyone performs. We let the hambones strut their stuff, but we work hard to make sure everyone feels comfortable. No pressure; Have fun!
The Grande Finale? The Birthday Play! After everybody offers an idea, a person, a place, a something that happens, whatever, Mr. J is left with a great, big list of ideas. Watch as he bends, shapes and twists those ideas into a story before your very eyes!
Everyone gets the part they want, and the Birthday Child is featured as we perform the play we just made up!
