McCarthy for President: Steering Committee -- Minutes of Meeting #3
Place: Pampa Restaurant (Amsterdam Avenue 97-98 Sts.)
Date: September 23, 1999
Present: Mr. Black, Mr. Damus, Mr. Mosbacher

The food was excellent, though a bit pricey.

Mr. Black and Mr. Mosbacher ate some cut up animals burned on a small incinerator which the waiter brought to the table. They reported it to be quite good. Mr. Damus had the delicious Penne with Marinara sauce.

The table was set with Italian bread and a small tub of diced Olive Condite. They must have known we were coming.

A few minutes were spent on old business (How's your family? Did you have trouble finding a parking space? Is your root canal still bothering you?). Then on to New Business.

New business

Mr. Mosbacher asked what we thought of the Mayor's recent unwarranted attacks on freedom of speech in the matter of the Brooklyn Museum. Brilliant insights flashed back and forth over the Penne and dead animals for the next hour or so. The only ones your humble Secretary can remember are:

Mr. Black suggested that we take the $7 million that we spend on the Brooklyn Museum and put it into art education in the public schools.

Mr. Damus suggested that it was all a tempest in a teapot, created by the Mayor in his quest for the Senate seat.

Messrs. Black and Mosbacher, having enjoyed the honor of eating the burnt offering, paid the larger share of the bill.

And so to bed.

Respectfully submitted,
Barry Nostradamus Sher

Note: There was probably another Steering Committee meeting between numbers 2 and 3, but nobody can remember what transpired.
