McCarthy for President - Steering Committee - Minutes of 4th meeting - 6/27/01
The steering committee met on Thursday, June 28, at El Malecon, a Dominican
restaurant in the part of his neighborhood that Martin would rather not think
about.
We discussed the behavioral oddities of our various children (numerous
[oddities, not children]) and what we are doing about them.
We discussed the current race for the Mayoralty and our sense that any of the
candidates -- Republican or Democrat -- other than Herman Badillo, would be
acceptable if less than inspiring. Badillo was deemed too scary.
We ate a lot of good Dominican food, and then spent a few minutes discussing
holding a reunion of as many of the people on our list as we could contact and
convince to attend. By this time I was tired, extremely well fed, and somewhat
sleepy. I don't recall whether we set a date for the reunion or not, but the
79th St. Boat Basin was proposed as the location, though other possible
locations (The Seagram Building, the fountain at Columbus Circle, etc.) were
also discussed.
Respectfully submitted for corroboration, correction, amendment, or
abandonment.
