Namche

Namche

Namche (3,450m/11,319ft): this thriving village, set in a bowl, is an important acclimatisation stop.  Since all routes pass through here, the facilities are well-developed and the village bustles with trekkers, Sherpas, and Tibetan traders who have organized a large Saturday market.  Note the yak herding station (or phu) at the bottom of the village.
