Koret Foundation Donates $25,000 to Karski Dinner
Washington, DC-The American Center of Polish Culture has received a $25,000 grant from the Koret Foundation to support the Jan Karski Freedom Award for Valor and Compassion Dinner, scheduled for September 25 in Washington DC. Funds raised at the dinner will be used for the Jan Karski Scholarship Fund.
"The Koret Foundation is particularly pleased to support the American Center of Polish Culture because in doing so we honor a great man, Jan Karski, and we recognize our president, Tad Taube, who was born in Cracow, Poland," said Abraham Sofaer, Director, Koret Foundation.
"We are very excited about this grant," said Dr. Kaya Mirecka Ploss, Executive Director of The American Center of Polish Culture. "The First Annual Karski Freedom Award for Valor and Compassion will be given to a deserving recipient at the awards dinner. We are in the process of a worldwide search for a nominee committed to Dr. Karski's lifelong fight against hatred, bigotry and anti-Semitism."
A committee of distinguished people is planning the awards dinner and will select the winner, who will be announced on September 25. Ambassador Jeane Kirkpatrick is Chair of the committee and Dr. Zbigniew Brzezinski is Honorary Chair. Funds from the dinner will go to the Jan Karski Scholarship Fund which is administered by The American Center of Polish Culture.
