What is a "Model Stitcher," and How Can I Become One?
Model stitchers are very important to needlework designers. The model stitcher is responsible for stitching a perfect (as near to perfect as a person can be, that is) example of the designer's work, stitched from the "final" version of the cross-stitch or needlework chart. Model stitchers need to be advance-level needleworkers, who are adept at using all kinds of threads and blending filaments on many varieties of fabric. Model stitchers are also vital because designers like to have several stitched models of each design. This way, stitched models are available for trade shows and other events. Often, we try to have more than one type of design model available, such as one version stitched on linen and another stitched on Aida. We like to use different threads, too, such as a version with Caron Collection touches, as well as one stitched entirely with DMC floss. We're currently not in a position to pay model stitchers. However, we do offer our model stitchers the following:
As you see, we certainly can't make you rich and famous, but we'll do our very best to show our appreciation. If you would like to be considered as a model stitcher, please send us a 4-inch square sample of your work. We'd like your sample to:
Because we're allergic to cigarette and cigar
smoke, and because smoke has a detrimental effect on needlework, we must require that all
of our model stitchers be non-smokers residing in smoke-free households. Thank you in
advance for your understanding. Samples should be sent to our Too Sisters Designs address,
please. We ask that you please include your complete name, mailing address, your telephone
number and an e-mail address (if applicable). Thank you for your interest! We're looking
forward to seeing your stitched sample!
