Magistrates & Bonding Hours
The Sixth Judicial District of the Commonwealth of Virginia includes the counties of Sussex, Surry, Greensville, Brunswick, and Prince George.
Sussex County is served by permanent part-time Magistrates. The Magistrate is a judicial officer trained, certified, and employed by the Supreme Court of Virginia. His duties include determining probable cause, issuing warrants, search warrants, committing persons to jail, setting bail amounts, and releasing persons out of jail on bond.
The Chief Magistrate of the Sixth Judicial District, Harris L. Parker, has established regularly scheduled BONDING HOURS for release of inmates from Sussex County Jail.
The bonding hours are as follows:
Monday - Friday
9:00 A.M. - 10:00 A.M.
5:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M.
Saturday, Sunday & Holidays
8:00 A.M. - 9:00 A.M.
5:00 P.M. - 6:00 p.m.
