Ride Recap
After yesterday's hard effort, today was a serious recovery day.  Early on, I met up with Jon Wolf who had similar sentiments, and we rode together for most of the day.  Meeting up with Jon, really made my day, today.  We swapped stories early on, while we tried to get our stiff legs loosened up. We then worked together really well, in a pace line to get back on track.  We later joined up with Hans Binder from Denmark and Brad Haslam to the lunch stop.  Again, the heat was on -- plenty of fluids plus ice-socks around the neck, was the survival strategy.
Riders depart from the hotel parking lot,
Jon Wolf, at one of the SAG stops.  Despite some tired legs today, Jon could just not help himself from sprinting for town signs.

Jon Wolf headed towards today's big climb in the distance
Half way up the climb, we passed through this tunnel.  The noise in the tunnel from the cars and trucks reverberated from all directions -- I felt as though I was going to get squashed like a bug when a vehicle passed by.
Just past the tunnel, we had a SAG stop.  There was a tiny bit of shade from the blazing sun, offered near the rocks..
After traveling 3 days and several hundred of miles through the scorching desert, finally a diner opportunity at the Globe McDonalds.
