Powercard Corporation is the distributor for both Powerdex and Polaroid
thin format batteries. We have been involved with this technology for over 25
years, and can provide technical help and design assistance.
The Gould Powerdex 6A1400 batteries were designed to
be used interchangeably with the Polaroid P100
batteries. Gould no longer manufactures batteries and they are no longer
available, however P100 batteries (below) will work as replacements, however
they have lower capacity and therefore will need to be changed more often.
The Polaroid P100 batteries are designed to be used in applications where customer replacement is desirable. They share the same thin format with both contacts on the same side, offset to prevent polarity reversal. They can be quickly and easily changed by being inserted into a slot in your device, much as a bankcard is inserted into an automatic teller machine. The P100 has a suggested list price of $4.75.
The Polaroid P80 batteries are used either in disposable
items, in battery packs or in applications where a technician must change the
battery. They can be used in series or in parallel to increase voltage, current
or capacity. The P80 battery is supplied mounted on a card with a thin plastic
overwrap.
Although not designed as rechargeable batteries, P80's and P100's have been
successfully recharged for many cycles by some customers and are being used in this
manner.
Special spring metal contacts are also available at
100 for $10.00.
We have produced two designer's kits to help people use our batteries in their
products. The P80 kit contains ten P80 batteries and ten spring metal contacts.
The The P100 kit contains five P100 batteries and a prewired plastic battery
holder. These kits are available from us for $25.00 each, postpaid in U.S.A.
