The Embrace

by Gina Gilmour, 1993

This act of human love is highlighted by the use of mirror fragments as the body's surface combined with movement and light provides a stunning visual effect created by the aesthetic vision of an outstanding artist.

A North Carolina native, Gilmour started making sculpture in her childhood. In 1981 she moved to Manhattan and exhibited paintings in various New York City galleries. Her work is in the collection of the Mint Museum, the Newark Museum, Duke University, and many private collections.
