Composers Concordance Spring Concert 2009!

The second concert of the 2008-2009 season will be held at the beautiful Chelsea Art Museum and will feature new works written for flute, clarinet and piano by the directors of the newly-configured Composers Concordance: Patrick Hardish, Gene Pritsker, Dan Cooper, Bill Rhoads and Joseph Pehrson. Many of the works will be composed for the occasion and they will correspond with paintings currently on exhibit: "On the Moon and Beyond" featuring Eduardo Kac, contemporary Iranian artists and "modern, modern," an art show that turns the modern into the truly modern-modern (We promise!) Performers include Margaret Lancaster, flute and Paul Hoffmann, piano (clarinet TBA)



Composers Concordance Recent Concert

recent 2008-09 season concert was held on

GREENWICH HOUSE MUSIC SCHOOL

New Music Connoisseur magazine and the Composers Concordance combined forces to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Composers Concordance concert series and pay tribute to composer Leo Kraft, Queens College Professor Emeritus, who has been an advisor and mentor to both organizations since their inceptions.

TO PRESS RELEASE
In addition to a special award presentation by NMC to Leo Kraft, the Composers Concordance featured the following works:

Elliott Carter Esprit Rude/Esprit Doux (flute and clarinet, in celebration of Carter's 100th birthday year)
Leo Kraft Five Sonnets of William Shakespeare (tenor and piano)
Otto Luening Second Suite for Solo Flute
Joseph Pehrson Transpian (piano and electronics)
Patrick Hardish Solo for Pete (drum set)
Performers: Erin Lesser, flute, Carol McGonnell, clarinet, Mark Bleekey, tenor, Peter Jarvis, percussion, Christopher Oldfather, Cesar Vuksic, piano. Tickets $20 (special fundraiser price), $10 student discount.

A reception with food followed in the friendly and appealing Greenwich House Music School facility.
