Kala Pattar

Kala Pattar

Kala Pattar (5,545m/18,222ft): our trek from Lobuche to Kala Pattar began well before sunrise.  After waking up at 3:30am, we ate a quick breakfast and then began walking at 4:00am.  We traversed along the Khumbu glacier and crossed the Changri Shar glacier before reaching Gorak Shep.  After a teahouse break, we continued our ascent up Kala Pattar, reaching the peak just before 10:00am.  It was a very difficult climb, but the view of Nuptse's icy spire and Everest's southwest face were awesome.
