stark realities -- Facts and Fictions is the business umbrella beneath which all my creative endeavors take place. It has been my service mark since I first moved to California in 1980. . . . I became a full-time writer when my wife and I moved to Mariposa, California -- home of Yosemite National Park, the crown jewel in the United States' National Park System -- in October, 2000. In Spring of 2002, I attempted to self-syndicate a column called "Stark's Reality". My attempt failed, foundered on the rocks of the U.S. newspaper publishing industry's economic contraction in the face of plunging ad revenues. <sigh> So, what the heck, I've decided to make the sample columns I crafted available here, in Adobe PDF format. )After all, I'd hate for the effort to have been entirely wasted.) They're about 200KB apiece, so be advised: . . . Beginning in 2003, I hope to be occupied full time researching and writing a historical novel about Alexander the Great. As part of that effort, I've added chapter numbers to the plublic-domain Dryden translation of Plutarch's "Life of Alexander" for the benefit of folks who may be trying to track citations of Plutarch's biography in other texts.
