Dr. Aliki K. Collins is the Principal of AKC Patents.
Dr. Collins has expertise in intellectual property law, magnetic materials and devices, optical materials and devices, semiconductors, ceramic materials, chemical vapor deposition process and equipment, rapid solidification of metals, business quantitative methods, statistical process improvement methods and radiation oncology physics. She has extensive experience in patent prosecution, new product development, team leadership, project and program management and teaching. She has worked at ipCapitalGroup, AlliedSignal, Morton International, MIT, Harvard Medical School, Harvard Business School, and Fish&Richardson.
For the past eighteen years, after having passed the patent bar, Dr. Collins has been practicing patent law and Intellectual Property Portfolio development at Fish&Richardson (a national IP Law firm), ipCapitalGroup (an international IP consulting start-up company) and at AKC Patents. She has successfully prosecuted a large number of patents in the materials, electrical, mechanical, medical, pharmaceutical, financial, software, business methods and computer arts.
Dr. Collins holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from MIT and a M.S. in Physics (Diplom Physiker) from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany. She is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). She has published several scientific papers, coedited a book and authored several theses. She is an inventor and holds two issued and several pending patents. She is fluent in German and Greek.
Dr. Collins serves as a mentor at the MIT Venture Mentor Service, where she holds IP office hours and mentors MIT start-up companies.
