Christian Growth

Education for All

Mission Statement
of the Christian Growth Committee

The Educational Ministry of the Congregational Church of Exeter is dedicated to creating an environment where all children, youth, and adults feel loved and accepted as significant participants in the life of the church. The Christian Growth Committee is committed to giving individuals guidance in their study and understanding of Holy Scripture and Christian faith traditions. It is our intention that this nurturing and guidance will foster attitudes and actions that reflect the love of Jesus Christ for a more just and inclusive society.

Church School

We offer church school classes for children from age 4 through grade 8 on Sunday mornings, beginning the Sunday after Labor Day through early June.

All children are invited to the beginning of the 10:00 service in the sanctuary with their families. They go to their classes after a special moment for children during the service. Our current church school program utilizes the Workshop Rotation Model. All our church school teachers and assistants are volunteers, all overseen by the Interim Director of Christian Growth. Registration for church occurs in September; newcomers are welcome to register at any point during the year. Please call the church office for more information.

Childcare

Childcare is provided during the 10:00 service each Sunday for babies and toddlers. This service is offered by volunteers, and its continuation depends on the active support of parents and others.

A one-room church school experience and childcare is provided during the summer months at the 9:30 a.m. service.

Confirmation

Confirmation is the process by which our young people are able to prepare for membership in the life of the church. It takes place during the eighth grade year. Each candidate is paired with an adult mentor who serves as guide, companion, and teacher through the process. The group also gathers together once a month for meetings and activities with the Interim Director of Christian Growth.

Youth Ministries

Youth Ministries offer a way for young people to explore, connect, play, serve, and learn! We have three active youth groups: 3rd-5th graders, Middle School, and High School. Programs include service projects, field trips, dinners, and camping opportunities.
