Toby, pictured here
at 10 and a half years of age, was born 18 March 1989, in the first litter
sired by that year's ASSA WD, who went on to become CH Alfenloch Whirlwind,
ROM. Toby was a slow maturer (click here to
see Toby grow) who finished at four, but probably reached his prime at six
or seven years of age.
Toby made his debut
as a special at age nine and a half, when we brought him out for a few shows
in hopes of making a younger dog jealous enough to show better. In two weekends
that summer, Toby racked up six BOBs, a Group Four, and a Group
One. Shown sparingly in 1999, Toby finished the year with multiple group
wins and placements, ending up within the top 15 Shelties in national all-breed
rankings (and #2 Sheltie in the six-state Northeast region) -- not bad for
an almost-11-year-old veteran!
Toby has been a terrific
dog to live with and show -- enthusiastic and happy in the show ring, sensible
and easy-going at home. He carries on at Foxglove through his his daughter,
Foxglove-DeVine Trendsetter, NA, PT-s, Trendy's
son, CH Foxglove Chances Are (by CH
Aylmere Foxglove You Bet), and her daughter, Foxglove
Cafe Au Lait (by CH Grandhill Clearsky Hi Flyer). Also residing at Foxglove
are the young Toby sons, Foxglove Avalon O. Henry
(out of CH Foxglove Ashburton Elegy) and Foxglove Sealoch Show No Mercy (out of BPIS Can. CH Sealoch
Mercy Miss Marcie). |
