THE NORTH AMERICAN STRAT-O-MATIC BASEBALL LEAGUE (NASBL)
LATEST NEWS: (Updated 12/21/14)
Season XIX (19) of the NASBL is now in the books. Here's a quick recap of the season:
In the American League, Toronto (101-61), Detroit (96-66), and California (113-49) won their respective divisions, and Kansas City (96-66), Cleveland (93-69),
and Minnesota (91-71) won the wild card spots. In the National League, the division winners were Atlanta (86-76), Chicago (94-68), and San Francisco (100-62),
and the wild card spots went to Los Angeles (92-70), Arizona (85-77), and Washington (83-79). For the fifth time in the last eight years, the ALCS came down to
California and Toronto, and the Angels continued their improbable winning streak against the defending champion Blue Jays. In the senior circuit, the Giants
reached the NLCS for the second consecutive year but fell short to the Braves. So for an amazing third time in the last four years, the Angels and Braves met up
in the World Series. The previous matchups had all been nail-biters, and this was no different... but in the end, history repeated itself and the Angels once
again emerged as NASBL champions.
Continuing the theme of history repeating itself, last years' MVP winners in both leagues accomplished the same feat this year -- Chicago's Andrew McCutcheon
hit .338 with 27 HR, 103 RBI, and 24 SB to take the honors in the NL, and Texas' Mike Trout hit .341 with 37 HR, 96 RBI, and 31 SB to unanimously win the title
in the AL. Meanwhile, New York's Max Scherzer (21-7, 2.11 ERA, 254 K) posted the pitching equivalent of the Triple Crown to handily win the NL Cy Young Award.
The AL Cy Young Award voting was extremely close between KC's Ervin Santana (22-4, 2.59 ERA, 183 K) and Toronto's Matt Harvey (19-4, 2.45 ERA, 231 K) -- in the end,
Ervin Santana squeezed out the win by a single vote.
With that, we now turn our attention to a milestone Season XX of the NASBL and what should be another great year!

SOME INFORMATION ABOUT OUR LEAGUE:
Who We Are:
We are a 24-team league using players from both the NL and AL. All games are played by the game
commissioner, who reports game results to the league on a timely and consistent basis throughout the season.
Ownership of the Strat-O-Matic game is not necessary to join the league, although knowledge of Strat
rules is definitely an advantage. Some of the unique features of the league include the ability to
draft minor leaguers (who have reached AAA) and the automatic free agency system (see
League Constitution for more info).
