Carolyn, like many stitchers, enjoys having the TV on while stitching. Nothing, to her mind, makes quite as good a background to serious stitching as auto racing, which tends to be long periods of nothing much to watch, punctuated by feverish moments of excitement with instant replays so she can see what she missed the first time while setting *one* more stitch... She and her DH both follow NASCAR races quite closely, and she catches up with the latest news in this division of racing at the official NASCAR website. When auto racing fails, nothing satisfies like a good movie. Want to know more about your favorite movie and movie stars than you thought possible? Want the scoop on coming attractions at the box office? Want to know where Carolyn goes when she wants information on movies? The Internet Movie Database, that's where! Sometimes, Carolyn likes to take a break from stitching, and that's when she puts on her speed goggles and surfs the 'net! KFWB, a local all-news radio station, also has some surprisingly fun links. She's always checking out the Quake List link, just to make sure she didn't sleep through The Big One, but she has the most fun when she clicks on ODDLinks. Here you will find links to such oddities as the Exploding Whale, the Virtual Frog, the Dirt Museum...the list goes on and on and on... Warning: ODDLinks does take a few minutes to load, since it is loaded with icons. Well worth the wait, however! There are times when you surf aimlessly, just plain bored. If you're bored, you might want to check out Bored.Com...a website just for those of you who suffer from ennui. And there are times when you want to find something desperately. Many people like to use Yahoo! as their search engine, others prefer Lycos or Excite. Carolyn prefers Go2Net...a search engine that grew into a portal, and you should see all the information it has now! It's one of our favorite places to begin our Web adventures; we even made it our start page.
Tisha, like Carolyn, loves to watch auto racing as she's stitching. Usually, she's at the computer virtually "stitching" new designs. While she's busy with Easy Cross, she listens to music over the Internet thanks to Spinner.com. When she's not listening to her favorites (Dan Fogelberg, Styx, Fleetwood Mac, Heart and other artists from the 1980s), Spinner.com is set to nature sounds...very soothing stuff. Soothing is good, because her other hobby is coffee -- too much espresso or cappuccino and she's got the attention span of a gnat! In between sessions at the computer, Tisha is a terror in the kitchen. She'll search the cupboards then head to the Food TV Network website, to see if supplies on hand match those required by the weekly recipe offerings. If she strikes out there, she can always find new ideas at the Kraft Kitchens. If that fails, there's always waffles or maybe a quick casserole of chicken and rice! (When she's not thinking about recipes, she's entering contests and sweepstakes, in hopes of winning a kitchen make-over! She's won some pretty cool things, but her dream kitchen awaits.) As often as possible, Tisha tags along with Carolyn and her DH (PeterRabbit). The three like to travel every chance they get. Sometimes, a quick glance at The Weather Channel is all it takes before it's time for an adventure. Sometimes, when Tisha's having a flare up of Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis, travel is a bit more challenging, but it's never impossible with a bit of advance planning. Right now, travel plans are being made for trips to Sonoma and Temecula; both excellent destinations for wine-tasting. Nothing like adding another bottle or two to the wine racks! Because she was Online Games Consultant for Apple Computer, Tisha really enjoys games played over the Internet. One of her favorites is Trivia Blitz, which she'd like to share with you now.
