Middle School
At the Middle School, 8th graders have the option to
elect a foreign language or to take a reading class. Students who elect a
foreign language choose between French, German, and Spanish. Students who
opt to take a reading class, may pursue foreign language study at the High
School. The foreign language classes offered at the Middle School for 8th
graders, are considered a major subject, and will prepare students to continue their
language study into level II at the High School. Foreign

Techniques and
strategies used at the Middle School, take into consideration the special needs

High School
The
articulated and sequential study of a foreign language begun in 8th grade is
continued at the High School. Here students have the option of pursuing
this study through levels II, III, IV, and AP. At the High School students who wish to expand their study of
foreign languages can also elect to begin the study of additional languages,
starting with level I. Language classes are scheduled daily for a semester
in 90 minute intensive scheduling blocks. (German AP classes are scheduled
every other day for the entire year.) Palisades
