RECORDER POWER!
A workshop for Recorder Teachers - all levels of experience
A natural, Mother Tongue approach for understanding the innate flexibility and expressiveness and of this wonderfully ergonomic instrument. As in language, we will learn through Listening, Imitating, and Playing/Improvising and discover how immediately accessible (and fun) the Recorder is to students of all ages and how quickly they can experience their own artistry.
The Recorder also possesses one of the greatest repertoires of any instrument and through exploring music from the Renaissance to the present we will work on a variety of Techniques and Musicianship.
All participants are encouraged to bring Recorders and to participate in the playing sessions.
October 24:
Peter and Mary Alice Amidon

The Many Faces of Schulwerk
Official Website: scalantropio.com
The Schulwerk approach of Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman, now almost 80 years old, still offers modern students many different avenues with which to enter the realm of music study. Exciting source materials combined with effective process teaching techniques can provide every student in an Orff classroom with some measure of success. This workshop will explore some of the traditional and nontraditional inspirations and modalities for the exploration of elemental music . Please bring soprano and alto recorders to the session.
