15. Houston Joyner³ Whitten (Augustus Devereaux (Dev)², Joab¹) (#85) was born in Willow, Amherst County, Virginia July 20, 1887. Houston died October 5, 1967 in North View, Mecklenburg County, Virginia, at 80 years of age. His body was interred in South Hill, Mecklenburg County, Virginia, Crestview Memorial Park.

He married Evie Lillian Ramsey in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, December 17, 1913. (Evie Lillian Ramsey is #323.) Evie was born in Granville County, North Carolina May 09, 1897. Evie was the daughter of Emmett Henry Ramsey and Lillie P. Hester. Evie died October 31, 1975 in North View, Mecklenburg County, Virginia, at 78 years of age. Her body was interred in South Hill, Mecklenburg County, Virginia, Crestview Memorial Park.

Houston Joyner Whitten and Evie Lillian Ramsey had the following children:

+ 71 i. Doris Augustus⁴ Whitten was born September 25, 1914.

72 ii. Elmer Leon Whitten (#329) was born in Chase City, Mecklenburg County, Virginia January 19, 1916. Elmer died August 06, 1938 in Chase City, Mecklenburg County, Virginia, at 22 years of age. His body was interred August 8, 1938 in Chase City, Mecklenburg County, Virginia.

73 iii. Lily Myrtle Whitten (#330) was born in Chase City, Mecklenburg County, Virginia October 09, 1917. She married Samuel Edward Hubbard in South Hill, Mecklenburg County, Virginia, November 15, 1940. (Samuel Edward Hubbard is #331.) Samuel was born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia August 4, 1914. + 74 iv. Alvin Joyner Whitten was born October 25, 1919.
