17. Joshua Babcock³ Whitten (Augustus Devereaux (Dev)², Joab¹) (#87) was born in Willow, Amherst County, Virginia May 19, 1889. Joshua died May 22, 1976 at 87 years of age. His body was interred in Mecklenburg County, Virginia.

He married Elizabeth (Lizzie) Anne Crowder February 12, 1916. (Elizabeth (Lizzie) Anne Crowder is #344.) Elizabeth was born in Wightman, Mecklenburg County, Virginia May 19, 1893. Elizabeth was the daughter of George Washington Crowder and Frances James Wells. Elizabeth died September 16, 1978 in Virginia, at 85 years of age. Her body was interred in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemeter.

Joshua Babcock Whitten and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Anne Crowder had the following children:

75 i. Frances⁴ Whitten (#347) was born in Mecklenburg County, Virginia July 22, 1917. She married James Earl Morris in Nathalie, Halifax County, Virginia, September 27, 1941. (James Earl Morris is #348.) James was born in Appomattox County, Virginia December 11, 1916. James is the son of Robert Walter Morris and Hallie Turner Torrence. (See James Earl Morris for the continuation of this line.)

76 ii. Helen Lewis Whitten (#355) was born August 30, 1922. She married Gordon Lee Robertson November 04, 1948. (Gordon Lee Robertson is #356.) Gordon was born December 24, 1917. Gordon is the son of Phillip Macon Robertson and Grace Crute Robertson.

77 iii. Clinton Dalhart Whitten (#359) was born December 30, 1926. Clinton died February 12, 1949 at 22 years of age.

+ 78 iv. George Edwin Whitten was born May 06, 1929.

+ 79 v. Lloyd Gray Whitten was born August 18, 1935.
