5. William Thomas² Whitten (Joab¹) (#485) was born in Willow, Amherst County, Virginia September 20, 1856. William died March 03, 1940 in Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Virginia, at 83 years of age. His body was interred in Taber, Nelson County, Virginia, Rock Springs Cemetery.

He married twice. He married Jennie Bernard Pitzer. (Jennie Bernard Pitzer is #529.) He married Martha Ann Clements in Willow, Amherst County, Virginia, February 1878. (Martha Ann Clements is #526.) Martha was born in Willow, Amherst County, Virginia November 15, 1857. Martha was the daughter of Jesse Clements and Nancy Gilbert Clements. Martha died September 20, 1920 at 62 years of age.

William Thomas Whitten and Martha Ann Clements had the following children:

21 i. Harvey Bledsoe³ Whitten (#530) was born July 02, 1880. Harvey died November 17, 1949 at 69 years of age.

23 iii. William Jasper Whitten (#532) was born in Orinoco, Virginia December 12, 1884. William died January 1901 at 16 years of age.

24 iv. Claren Payne Whitten (#533) was born May 1886.

+ 25 v. Linwood Roscoe Whitten was born January 10, 1888.

26 vi. Ella Thomas Whitten (#535) was born in Taber, Nelson County, Virginia February 07, 1890. She married Dr. Carl Clinton D.D. 1958. (Dr. Carl Clinton D.D. is #588.) Dr. died January 12, 1969.

27 vii. Mary Lou Whitten (#536) was born in Taber, Nelson County, Virginia February 28, 1892. She married Wesley Robert Napier February 28, 1916. (Wesley Robert Napier is #589.) (See Wesley Robert Napier for the continuation of this line.)

29 ix. Estelle Gilbert Whitten (#538) was born in Taber, Nelson County, Virginia November 23, 1896. She married twice. She married Bartow Arnold McMichael Jr 1918. 30 x. Frank Henry Whitten (#539) was born in Taber, Nelson County, Virginia March 31, 1900. Frank died January 1949 at 48 years of age. He married Dorothy McCalister. (Dorothy McCalister is #609.)
