8/1/05 Re: Tryouts
2006 Season Dear
Parents and Athletes, Our 2006
tryouts will be held on August 27 at DPW Field, Patterson, NY. Click here for
times and rain date information.
The player's age (AFA, ASA, PONY, NSA, etc.) is determined by using is the athlete’s age
on January 1, 2005. It should be noted that it is possible to play
up (i.e. a 14 year old playing on the 16U team); it is not possible to play
down. It is our policy that every athlete MUST tryout in order to make a team.
If you are PUTT (physically unable to tryout) you should plan on coming to
tryouts, filling out the paperwork, and talking with your perspective coach /
coaches about the possibility of setting up an alternate tryout. It’s
unfortunate that some athletes who try out will not make a team. This is the
harsh reality of being a competitive program with a 13-player maximum roster
policy. Additionally, there is no guarantee that every 2005 athlete will make a
2006 team. My advice to ALL the athletes is to make your best effort in all
aspects of the tryout and always wear your positive attitude on your sleeve. 2006 teams
/ Fall ball 2005: We expect
the athletes selected for the 2006 teams to play the 2005 fall schedule with
their new teams. The 18’s will play in at least two “College Showcase
Tournaments”, a showcase doubleheader, and practice. All other age groups can plan on one local tournament,
practices, and local doubleheaders. Tentative schedules / costs will be
available at tryouts. Regards, Jim Kelly President
