ROCKETS 2006 TRYOUT INFORMATION We
want athletes who love the game, the competition, and the camaraderie that the
TEAM sport of softball can facilitate.
WHAT
WE DELIVER:
. Experienced dedicated coaches.
. Proven fundamental skill improvement techniques.
. Small rosters (13 player maximum)
. Guaranteed playing time.
. Exposure opportunities for college bound student athletes.
. Competitive opportunities at the local, regional, and national levels.
. Weekly indoor practices Jan. - March .
. Weekly outdoors practices & scrimmages beginning in April .
. An improved athlete.
2006
will be the Rockets twelfth tournament season. The Rockets are a non-profit
organization dedicated to improving the individual athletes’ level of play
while stressing the importance of “teamwork” and team goals. All moneys,
fees and donations collected go to the cost of running our program. This
includes uniforms, team equipment, insurance, entry and association fees, travel
expenses, administrative costs, etc. Our
18U athletes are given the opportunity to participate in College
Showcase Tournaments & twelfth recruiting camps.
TRYOUTS: Your daughter will be notified by phone regarding her status within a couple of days of her tryout. The coach may request an additional tryout or extend an invitation to play in a fall ball game(s) if he/she is undecided. You will have one day to accept a roster spot once it is offered. For
more than ten years the Rockets have had a Fallball season as well.
This activity runs through the end of October. We expect to send all age
groups to at least one fall tournament in Sept. – Oct. WHAT’S
THE COMMITMENT / EXPECTATION? Commitment.......picture a bacon and egg breakfast....the chicken participated but the pig was committed.
From players and parents we expect:
. 100% attendance at all scheduled practices, games, meetings and events.
. Good sportsmanship all the time.
. Team spirit and the acceptance of team goals & objectives.
. Respect for players, parents and coaches.
. A positive / willing to learn attitude and demeanor.
. Openness to new and different techniques and concepts.
. Willingness to play any position requested.
The
Rockets expect total support from players and parents for these 2006 events:

Fund raising raffle, each family will be required to sell a fixed # of tickets
(November – March).
·
Silent Auction, March 2005. Each family will be required to provide an auction
item. Details at the parent meeting.
· Memorial
Weekend Tournament, Each parent in the program, as well as the 16 & 18U
athletes are required to volunteer.
The
Board of Directors and various subcommittees will organize these events.
Everyone in the Rockets organization is a volunteer. When asked please do what
you can to help the various events, the athletes, and our program.
Parents:
The Rockets program
provides a positive, constructive and instructive environment for your daughter.
YOU are in the best position to promote the attitude and demeanor necessary for
a positive experience. YOU are also
in the best position to create a negative experience for your daughter, other
players, parents and coaches.

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE SEASON FEE? Indoor
and outdoor practices, partial uniform, team equipment, tournament entry fees,
association dues, team insurance (secondary insurance w/ a deductible), coaches
travel lodging, coaches expenses, administrative costs, etc. Also included is
$50.00 per athlete for the raffle. Please
note: For travel tournaments 16U, 14U, 12U and 10U athletes’ room & eat
with their parents. This cost is NOT included in our fee. 18U athletes’ room
together and meals are taken with the team. Multi
year uniforms were introduced in 2004. Athletes
new to the program will need to purchase uniforms, (2004 cost $114.00), this is
not included in the playing fee. If
