NCASDLA sadly notes the passing away of caller and prompter Lt. Col. H. A. "Decko" Deck on the evening of Aug. 5, 2010. He died peacefully at the age of 90.

Decko was a lifetime member of NCASDLA, which he helped organize in 1951. He also helped organize VASCA and other caller clubs, and in 1989 was awarded Callerlab's "milestone" award. For more than 50 years, his calling and contra prompting has delighted countless dancers. He will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held October 19, 2010 at 3 PM in the Asbury Methodist Village’s Guild Chapel, 211 Russell Ave., Gaithersburg, MD, 20877. A brief reception will follow the service. He will be interred October 20, 2010 in a private family ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
