CellTech's Unique Fuel Cell Technology - Mr. Scott Rackey The Many Ways of Making Money with Free and Open Source Software - Jon 'maddog' Hall Chairman's Message IEEE Women In Engineering (WIE) Worcester County Section member Desiree Awiszio has volunteered to chair the WIE affinity group in central Mass. The group will provide section members with additional professional development and networking opportunities. Desiree has started organizing and planning activities for 2005 and welcomes your support, involvement and participation. Desiree can be reached via email at desiree_awiszio@msn.com Special events to look for in 2005 include: Engineers Week On Wednesday, February 23rd, the annual joint IEEE/ASME Engineers Week dinner meeting will take place at Tweeds in Worcester. Mr. Scott Rackey, president of CellTech Power, will give a presentation on fuel cell technology and share his insights on the opportunities for small scale distributed power generation. For details, visit CellTech's Unique Fuel Cell Technology Spring PACE Dinner - On Thursday, April 7th, a Worcester Section Spring PACE / WPI dinner meeting will be held at WPI. Arthur Winston, 2004 IEEE President, will give a talk on the Technical Professional in 2010 followed by dinner at Higgins House on the WPI campus. Save the date, details will be forthcoming. ExComm Meetings - The section's ExComm meets monthly, typically on the second Wednesday of the month, at Intel's facility in Hudson. The meetings start at 6:30PM with pizza/soda and lasts until 8:00 - 8:30PM. All section members are encouraged to get actively involved with the section and participate in executive committee meetings. There is a standing invitation to all section members to attend ExComm meetings and become involved with establishing the section's agenda. Please email me (Reinhart@DisCom.com ) when you plan to attend so we can be sure to have a sufficient amount of pizza and I can email you directions to Intel. Immediately following most ExComm meetings is an optional PACE (Professional Activities) meeting of a libational nature at either Checkers or The 99 Restaurant. Topics discussed are those of immediate and pressing worldly concern to the attendees. PACE meetings typically adjourn about 10:00PM.
