Montreal, Mueller Water
It's no wonder the people of Montreal are so
colorful. There water supply is colorful. This photo was taken
on a very hot day in La Rhonde, a kids amusement park on the island in
Montreal. |
|
Montreal, Francis
Hankin Co. Ltd. Water Valve
They love to smoke in Canada, despite the high prices of
around $5.00 per pack for cigarettes. |
|
Montreal, Silver
Fleur-de-Lis Crest
This fleur-de-lis is part one of my four-photo sequence. It's
one of the many subtle signs of the appreciation of a non-existent French
monarchy, despite the British presence in this French speaking
city. |
|
Montreal, Gold
Fleur-de-Lis Crest
Although it is decorative, it's hard to imagine this as
anything but a Quebequoi separatist statement. |
|
Montreal, Green
Fleur-de-Lis Crest
...or maybe it's just a way of saying that we like
French culture better than English culture, or there's enough English
culture in the USA. Let's hold on to some of our French roots. |
|
Montreal, White
Fleur-de-Lis Crest
That's not so hard to understand. I think you
might find the same sentiments in New Orleans. Of course that was
before Gulf War 2. |
|
Montreal, Bronze Surveyor Marker
This was in a doorway, not far from old Montreal. |
|
Montreal, BB Faucet
...or should I say, beh beh faucette? Love that
graphic. |
|
Le Vieux Port De
Montreal - Aqueduc
For some reason, they love these types of diamond patterns.
I bet it has to do with the British Royalty too. |
|
Hawkesbury Sewer
(Ecout)
Very similar motif to the one in Montreal. |
|
Hawkesbury Town Cover
#1
This could be a cover photo (book cover). |
|
Hawkesbury
This one introduces some grass. |
|
Hawkesbury Mueller Cover
Canadian Splendor in the Grass. |
|
Hawkesbury Storm Drain in the Field
Keep them coming! |
|
Hawkesbury Conical
Drain
The high relief of this drain might be required due the
close proximity of the Ottawa River. |
|
Hawkesbury S
Many cover photos do not seem to successfully capture
this subtle light and shadow. |
|
Hawkesbury
Sometimes I feel like I haven't captured a location
until I've found a face in the pavement. This one is weary. |
|
Hawkesbury Ecout
A most elegant Ecout. |
|
Hawkesbury
Love that paint! |
|
Hawkesbury
Love those diagonals! |
|
Hawkesbury Drain with Straw #1
Love that straw! |
|
Hawkesbury Drain with Straw
#2
Love that sand! |
|
Hawkesbury Drain with Straw
#3
This is becoming a series on its own... |
|
Hawkesbury School Wall
If I wasn't related (by marriage) to people in
Hawkesbury, I would never have visited this God forsaken town. Well
actually, its God forsakenness is probably more of a God's blessing, since
many of its people are pure of heart, and visiting the downtown is like
going back in time, with all the bargain shops and cigarette
smoking. Oh, by the way, that's me and my son Jason's shadow.
I held the camera in a way that you couldn't tell I was shooting the
photo. |
|
Hawkesbury Cover
This cover was very unassuming, but striking. |
|
Hawkesbury Storm
The calm before the storm... |
|
Hawkesbury Storm
Drain #2
This storm drain sewer cover photo has strength and resistance
written all over it. You can almost see the wind and the storm in
the sand. How else could they weather the severe Canadian
storms? |
|
Hawkesbury Crumble
That sounds like a cake, or a dance... Do the Hawkesbury
Crumble... I had a lot of fun shooting the streets of Hawkesbury from my
bike, which we took on the back of the van. |
|
Brockville Bike
This is a very nice town to ride a bike and shoot photos. |
|
Brockville Bird
The bird on the top of that piling looked fake. |
|
Brockville Wood
Brockville is also a lakeside community with a pleasant
marina and park. |
|
Brockville Cleat
A neat boat cleat in the grass. |
|
Brockville Plaza
Most of the time, neat clean plazas are the sign of a
healthy middle class. |
|
Brockville Electric
A cover of comfort to many. |
|
Brockville Worn
A similar, but worn comfort. |
|
The Guerney Tilden
Co. Hamilton Ont. Cover
Great patterns on this Brockville cover. |
|
Ottawa Iron Works
Early morning photos have long shadows. |
|
Brockville Circle
of Peace
I guess there is a fairly large Bahai presence in
Brockville. |
|
Brockville Swirl
A busy intersection under construction with a heavily
worn cover. |
|
Brockville Tires
Such a strange sign in an unusual scene. |
|
Brockville Plush Cover
This cover was in a field of plush green grass and
weeds. |
|
Brockville Wood
It appears that you must put money in this meter to
knock on this door, or ring the doorbell, or maybe sit on the front step. |
|
Brockville Plaza
Cover
Great study in gray. |
|
Brockville Plaza
Split Cover
My guess is that this cover was placed there way before
the plaza was paved. |
|
Brockville Bell
Ma Bell is everywhere, or should I say Mon Belle est eh
vree ware. No, Brockville is English speaking. |
|
Niagara Checkerboard Cover
These high contrast photos are part of a triptych... |
|
Niagara Checkerboard Cover
... that were taken early in the morning... |
|
Niagara Checkerboard Cover
... before my family woke up. |
