Chichen Itza Surveyor's Marker
This was at the top on the northeast corner.
A coveted photo for all lovers of ancient pyramids and utility photos. |
|
Chichen Itza Plaque
This plaque has a lot of useful information about the
site, but unfortunately I do not speak Spanish, so I don't know what it
says. My wife does though. Maybe I'll ask her to translate
it... next web update. |

Chichen Itza Souls
The souls of many a sacrificed Mayan passed through the
halls of this pyramid. This is a shot of an indentation in the floor
inside the top on the north side. |
|
Chichen Itza
A lot of the stones that make up the east and north
sides were taken from the south and west sides to make the stairs
usable. Each step is about 12 inches high and there are about 60 of
them. It's been reported that they may not let people climb them
anymore due to the fact that there are 2 fatalities and many injuries per
year that occur on this pyramid. So the sacrifices continue... |

Fran on Top of Chichen Itza
There I am. It wasn't a bad climb after all that
hype. To my left was the soul shot and behind me on the outer
corner was the surveyor shot. |
|
Tulum Pit
This is as close as we got to a utilitarian hole. |
|
Tulum Face
Although they don't need simulated Wandjinas here. |
|
Lizard Holes
Hey! They're people too. |
