Starsky & HutchSynopsisOwen Wilson and Ben Stiller as the cop duo from the TV series, they have to solve a case involving a drug lord, or something like that, with the help of Snoopy, or some other dog, I dunno. * What I ThoughtDisclaimer #1: I never watched the old Starsky & Hutch on TV. Disclaimer #2: I think Ben Stiller is overrated as a comic actor. Disclaimer #3: Ditto for Owen Wilson So you think I'll pan the movie, right? Well, you're correct. I heartily agree with a reviewer that the funniest thing about the movie is the idea of casting Stiller & Wilson as Starsky & Hutch. But the actual implementation is so-so. It's not that it's bad, you have the funny fashions, the car, the 70's dialog. The hair. Oy, the hair. Thank goodness I grew up during the 80's. But where was I...? The problem is that it's just not that good. They try to be funny, but they also try to be serious as well. If you're going to do a spoof, just go all the way, don't do this half & half stuff. Granted, they are spoofing the old TV show, so Stiller's macho-like awkward running and hair-flipping may be funnier than I thought. I guess. An acceptable rental, but not up to snuff to spend 10 bucks on, unless you're a big fan. With big hair. Oy. * Just a joke to show I don't think much of Snoop Dogg's "acting". |
